Au SAE J1708/J1587 Interpreter, a palm-size handheld device with J1708/J1587 bus Interface and RS232 Interface, is capable of interpret the most popular SAE J1708/J1587 signals to a RS232 ASCII String (similar to AT command string). Its 9 pin female RS232 connector can be connected to PC or any devices with RS232 serial connections. At the 9-pin “BUS” side (male connector), it can be connected to J1708/J1587 network and a DC power supply (e.g. +12V).

1 DB9 Male "BUS" Interface: Au Group Electronics provide a few kinds of CAN cables (Part#: CBL-CAN-01, CBL-CAN-485-01, CBL-CAN- 03 and CBL-CAN-04) to work with Au J1708 Interpreter. Note: Those cables are optional items for Au J1708 Interpreter in different applications, and are sold separately.
1 RS232 Interface: 11 baud rates are supported and can be changed in the field; default baud rate: 115.2K; other baud rate (bps) are field configurable: 300; 1.2K; 2.4 K; 4.8 K; 9.6 K; 14.4K; 19.2K; 28.8K; 38.4K; 57.6K; It is used to output the received J1708 signal in an ASCII String format (Similar to AT Command String). It can also be used for in-field firmware update (115.2K only), license management (115.2K only), etc. Au J1708 Interpreter can be connected to RS232 (serial) port of PC either through a RS232 serial extension cable (Part#: CBL-RS232-01) or through a USB to RS232 serial convert cable (Part #: CBL-USB-232).
Three ways of PC/Serial Modem connection
Au J1708 Interpreter has a RS232 interface. It can be connected to PC through one of the three ways:

It can be connected to USB port of a PC through a USB to RS232 converter cable (part#: CBL-USB-232).
