The Au SAE J1708/J1587 simulators (Gen II, V1.00A release) can simulate up to 44 most frequently used Engine/Transmission/ABS parameters, warnings and diagnostic messages. Up to six Engine MID, three transmission MID and six ABS MID can be field configured. All editions can run independently (without personal computer). This family of simulators are designed very easy to use. It is widely used as valuable tools for any situation from product-line test, incoming inspection, business demonstration to product development and product validation.

Au SAE J1708 Simulator Non-plus editions
Au J1708/J1587 Simulator non-plus editions are stand-alone devices. They can be operated independently without a PC. Full range of J1708/J1587 signals can be generated by controlling 3 push buttons.
Au SAE J1708 Simulator Plus editions
Plus Edition = non-Plus Edition + Remote Terminal GUI Display and Control capabilities
Au J1708 Simulator plus editions have all the functions of non-plus edition, plus PC Remote Terminal program. Like the non-plus editions, all the plus editions can still work independently without a PC.
The optional "Remote Terminal GUI" connects Au J1708 Simulator to a PC through serial communication. It displays the simulator information, alters and displays the simulator settings, and performs license upgrading for all editions.
It also shows simulated J1708 signals on a computer screen for "Plus" editions and "script" editions.
Au SAE J1708 Simulator Script editions
Script Edition = Plus Edition + Script Control capabilities
The Engine Basic Script edition includes all Engine Basic Plus Edition functions, plus script control capabilities
The Engine Premium Plus edition includes all Engine Premium PlusEdition functions, plus script control capabilities
The Vehicle Platinum Script Edition includes all Vehicle Platinum Plus Edition functions, plus script control capabilities
Script control sets six parameters to any value in the SAE- J1708 specification allowed range: Engine RPM, Vehicle speed, VIN, Battery voltage, Engine hour, Total vehicle distance. It could generate a few frequently used script segments and run a saved script file. The script can be delayed, repeated, with or without white noise. Script control can also switch CAN bus on-off. Engine hour and Total vehicle distance will accumulate over time.

Au J1708/J1587 Simulator can be connected to PC serial (COM) port through a RS232 serial extension cable (Part#: CBL-RS232-01), as shown in the following picture:

The Value Package Edition(s) provides 8 most frequently used engine parameters for stationary application.
The Engine Basic Edition(s) provides 23 engine parameters. It is suitable for those situations which only require normal Engine operating data, such as Engine RPM, Vehicle Speed, Engine Oil pressure, etc.
The Engine Premium Edition(s) is suitable for those situation which also require engine warning information and multi-section communication protocols, etc.
For users who need Vehicle ABS information, Vehicle Transmission information, please consider the Vehicle Platinum Edition(s).
Value Package Edition(s), Engine Basic edition(s) and Engine Premium edition(s) can be upgraded to higher edition(s), non-Plus editions can be upgraded to Plus editions, Plus editions can be upgraded to Script editions.
All editions can statically or dynamically simulate the SAE J1708/J1587 data. Two push buttons (UP and DOWN buttons) are used in the static mode to control the data outputs. The dynamic mode will automatically cycling the data in its range. LEDs will indicate the control status. And buzzer sound reflects push button inputs. The buzzer sound can also be disabled.
After a network is physically connected, simply powering up the simulator will get it transmitting operating data on SAE J1708/J1587 network. No software setup and No CAN protocol configuration skill are required.
Static mode will generate steady SAE J1708/J1587 data, Dynamic mode will generate constant-changing SAE J1708/J1587 data automatically.
